Chateau Elan
For my family and I the Hunter Valley has become preferred holiday destination close to Sydney. The valley has everything we need for a perfect vacation, from good food, great wine to entertainment for the whole family. The Hunter Valley has got it all. When it comes to accommodation you most certainly will be spoilt for choice.
, situated in the heart of Hunter Valley, our newest find, by far is one of the best hotels that we have stayed in this region. Just two hours drive from Sydney you find the Chateau situated side by side with the Grand Mercure apartments, the Vintage residential community and the Greg Norman designed golf course.
Our stay started with warm greetings from the staff at the door and then at the reception. As we entered the lobby we could not ignore that inviting fragrance created by the beautiful aromatic candles placed strategically in the lobby. We instantly knew the Chateau was a good choice of accommodation. The lobby, though not as spacious as one would have expected, was modern and welcoming. I thought the cozy cafe that took up most of the lobby space in the back was an innovative idea. Resisting the temptation of having a cuppa after the two hour drive from Sydney, we bundled up back into the car and drove to our Villa after the check-in paper works were dealt with. The accommodation we chose consisted of a two bedroom unit in a four unit villa. These villas were individually built facing the magnificent golf course with ample parking in front. The space between each was more than adequate for a truly private stay.
Our two bedroom villa was an excellent choice for family accommodation. With three young kids we couldn't have asked for a better setup.
The accommodation itself exceeded our expectations. The rooms were beautifully designed and tastefully decorated, with white, grey and green hues creating a relaxing and welcoming atmosphere.
The rooms had it all, from the proper fridge (not a mini bar) to the washing machine and everything a typical young family needs for a great vacation such as separate dining and entertaining areas. The facilities were more than enough for anyone who wished to cook meals for themselves and spend quality time enjoying the facilities and surroundings. The open gas fireplace, complete with artificial stones, added to the already cosy feel of the rooms. The view from the villa of the sprawling grounds of the golf course facilitated a quick transition into vacation mode.
The Chateau is centrally located to all the main attractions as you can reach almost anywhere of importance in the valley within minutes of its location. Local restaurants, markets, shops, wineries and the Hunter Valley gardens are at such close proximity that the Chateau is number one when it comes to convenience of situation. But there is absolutely no need for you to go out of the Chateau grounds itself if you so wish. As we found out during our walks in the morning, every thing that one needs for a great vacation can be found withing walking distance from your villa. The spa though I did not try is reviewed as one of extremely great service. The cafe and the Legends Grill, I can highly recommend through experience. Excellent service, friendly staff and delicious food, what more can I say.
The grounds itself is more than enough to keep kids entertained. If running around the grass is not enough there is a kiddies play area and not to mention the pool. Watching kangaroos is one activity we all enjoyed . The chateau grounds have plenty of them. These Kangaroos are bold enough to even pay a visit to your varendha. There are signs everywhere warning you not to approach or feed these roos, watching them from far is fascinating enough that you surely do not have to feed or approach them.
My review wouldn't be complete if I didn't mention the pillows in the chateau, the comfort of these pillows are so much so my kids wanted to order some to take home.
, with its sophistication and great customer care, certainly adds a new dimension to the concept of villa accommodation in the Hunter Valley.
